Local artists, including RFA's own Peter Lavigne, display their art in the neighborhoods of southeast Portland. Enjoy music, hor d'oeuvres and the festive air on November 20-21, 10 am to 6 pm.
The Brooklyn neighborhood ArtWalk, now in its 8th year, and the Sellwood Moreland Art Walk have combined efforts in the new Brooklyn to Sellwood Art Walk Saturday November 20 and Sunday November 21 from 10 am to 6 pm. 36 local artists will display and sell their works in their homes and studios in the Brooklyn, Moreland and Sellwood neighborhoods of SE Portland. This juried art show has taken on a festive air as visitors add to their collections and buy holiday gifts while sampling snacks, hor d'oeuvres and music and enjoying the tour with their families.
The ArtWalk is organized and put on by the artists themselves and a wide selection of art objects are represented in two and three-dimensional forms. There will be sculptures in glass, metal, and "diverse media"; paintings in oil, acrylics and watercolor pastels; landscape photography, clay prints, glass beads, and obsidian wind chimes, as well as jewelry, furniture, ceramics, among many other items.
Posters and maps describing the ArtWalk are displayed at area retailers throughout the neighborhoods including the True Brew Coffeehouse and old Friends Antiques on SE Milwaukie Ave.; Schondecken Coffee Roasters across from the Sellwood Post Office, and the Ugly Mug Coffee Shop in Sellwood. Each artist location will be identified by distinctive "hand logo" signs with numbers identified on the maps. The maps and artist descriptions are also posted on Sellwood artist Jessica Vasi's website.

The Copper River Delta has the largest concentration of nesting shorebirds in North America, is an important nursery for prized salmon and other fisheries, and is a relatively unspoiled wilderness area with keystone predators including wolves and grizzlies.
The Columbia River watershed is a critical link in the mega-linkages of the Pacific flyway and predator migration corridor. It is the nerve center for salmon restoration, and one of the world's most highly manipulated great river systems.
The Colorado River system flows 1,450 miles through nine states and Mexico; the Grand Canyon was created by its waters. The aridity of most of this region has made its water into a valuable commodity, and the fragile desert, canyon, and delta ecosystems it supports have suffered as a result.
This initiative links RFA's policies of supporting indigenous peoples, drumming home the common sense linkages between clean healthy water for human use, strong biodiverse and healthy ecosystems, and environmental justice for indigenous peoples and economically disadvantaged people throughout the Americas. This initiative works at the heart of water policy issues, especially the global debate on the privatization of fresh water resources and growing water supply controversies throughout the United States and the hemisphere. We believe that all children and all people deserve clean water, and that access to a subsistence level of water is a basic human obligation.
